Larry Johns

I’m Larry—a retired Marine, Ordained Minister, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and artist. My journey has taken me from military service in the Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom to providing clinical counseling to active duty service members and their families with the Department of Defense and running my private practice, EmpowerU Counseling and Education, LLC.

I know firsthand the challenges that come with life transitions, trauma, loss, and rediscovering your identity—because I’ve lived them. From navigating combat deployments to finding my own healing through art during the isolation of COVID-19, I’ve experienced how powerful it can be to turn pain into purpose.

In my work, I draw on these lived experiences to connect deeply with clients facing mental health challenges, relationship issues, substance use recovery, chronic stress, or major life changes. Whether through conversation, creativity, or problem-solving, my goal is to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered to move forward.

You may feel ready to start or may need to ask some questions to feel more comfortable with moving forward with your journey (that’s okay too). Click below to take the next step and schedule a consultation call.
